BTS: National Transportation Database
A new website tool for providing transportation data to researchers and analysts named TranStats has been developed by the BTS. It is intended to reduce the time needed for data gathering, allowing for more time for analysis, and provides easy linkages across multiple data sets.

Federal Railroad Administration
The purpose of the FRA is to: enforce and promulgate rail safety regulations; consolidate government support of rail transportation activities; conduct research and development in support of national rail transportation policy and improved railroad safety; administer railroad assistance programs; and provide for the rehabilitation of Northeast Corridor rail passenger service. The Department of Transportation Act of 1966 (49 U.S.C. 103, Section 3(e)(1)) created the FRA.

Child Passenger Safety Tips from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
Through its Child Passenger Safety Program, the NHTSA seeks to prevent child occupant deaths and injuries by increasing the correct use of child safety seats, booster seats and safety belts for children ages 0-16.

National Center for Statistics and Analysis
The NCSA is responsible for providing a wide range of statistical and analytical l support to the NHTSA and the traffic safety community through data collection, analysis, and crash investigation activities.

Bureau of Transportation Statistics
The BTS administers data collection, analysis, and reporting, and ensures the most cost-effective use of transportation-monitoring resources. It was created in 1991 by the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act and became a part of the Research and Innovative Technology Administration in 2005.

University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute Center for National Bus and Truck Statistics
Established to formalize the national program to collect and analyze truck accident data and expanded to include a survey of bus crashes.

The SAFER system offers company safety data and related services to the trucking industry and the public over the Internet.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
The FMCSA's is to reduce crashes, fatalities, and injuries involving large trucks and buses. It was established as a separate administration within the U.S. Department of Transportation pursuant to the Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act of 1999.
